Our innovative Customer Data Platform (CDP) handles complex data processing and storage requirements across various deployment environments. We're seeking a Platform Engineer to strengthen our platform's core services and database operations. The Platform Engineer role is crucial for bridging our backend development and database operations, focusing on the performance, scalability, and reliability of our core platform services. This position will work closely with both backend developers and DevOps to ensure our distributed systems operate efficiently across various deployment scenarios.

🦸 What You'll Actually Do:

• Design and implement scalable database solutions using CockroachDB and OpenSearch
• Optimize database performance and query execution across distributed environments
• Develop and maintain core platform services in Python and Golang
• Implement data replication and sharing strategies for multi-region deployments
• Work on database migration strategies and schema evolution
• Collaborate with DevOps on deployment automation for database components
• Design and implement high-availability solutions for database clusters
• Create and maintain backup and recovery procedures for database systems
• Performance profiling and optimization of backend services
• Implement data processing pipelines with focus on efficiency and reliability
• Support the development team with database architecture decisions
• Work on improving our ETL processes and data workflows

🤹 The Skills You'll Bring:

• 4+ years of experience in backend development with focus on databases
• Strong experience with distributed databases (CockroachDB, PostgreSQL)
• Proficiency in Python and/or Golang
• Deep understanding of database optimization and performance tuning
• Experience with search engines (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch)
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with data processing and ETL pipelines
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems principles
• Experience with high-availability database architectures

Desired Skills:

• Experience with time-series data processing
• Knowledge of real-time data processing systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools
• Understanding of data privacy and security requirements
• Experience with message queues and event streaming platforms
• Knowledge of data modeling and schema design
• Experience with database backup and recovery strategies
